The foundation for the Santa Monica sister city Association was established in June 1989 to provide additional financial support for the programs of the assocaition which include: the Student Exchange Programs between Santa Monica and our other sister Cities and cultural exchanges between these cities

The Foundation was established with a Fiduciary responsibility to accept bequest from wills, donations, grants, memorials, honorariums and income from fund raising events.

It provides endowment income for the programs of the Sister City Association.

Sister City International supports long term community reciprocal exchanges programs in the fields of education, government, economic and social relations between 1200 US cities and their 2100 partners in 127 countries world ide.
